Trump Issues Fresh Warning to Iran as Regional Tensions Persist
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump issued a sharp warning to Iran on Sunday, stating that the country must act quickly or face severe consequences, according to public statements shared on social media.
In a post on his Truth Social account, Trump wrote: “Clock is Ticking” and urged Iran to “get moving,” adding: “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!” He also warned that continued delay could leave Iran in a position where “there won’t be anything left of them.”
The remarks come amid ongoing US pressure on Tehran to accept conditions linked to a ceasefire framework, which reportedly includes restrictions on uranium enrichment, the transfer of enriched nuclear material, and changes involving access to the Strait of Hormuz.
Tensions in the region have remained high since the United States and Israel carried out strikes against Iran in late February, triggering retaliatory actions from Tehran targeting Israeli territory and US-aligned states in the Gulf region.
A ceasefire agreement reached in April through mediation efforts involving Pakistan has remained in place but continues to face instability. Reports indicate that negotiations have struggled to produce a long-term settlement, with US officials describing Iran’s latest proposals as unacceptable.
The situation was also reportedly discussed during Trump’s recent state visit to Beijing, where broader regional security issues were addressed.
In a separate statement, the White House said Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed that Iran should not acquire nuclear weapons and emphasized the importance of keeping key maritime routes open and free from imposed restrictions.
Iranian officials, meanwhile, warned that renewed escalation could have broader economic consequences, including impacts on energy markets and global financial stability.
