China Denies Allegations of Involvement in Iran Missile Production
(MENAFN) China has rejected accusations suggesting it assisted Iran in developing missile capabilities, describing the claims as unfounded.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Guo Jiakun, said in Beijing that such allegations lack factual basis. He stated: “We oppose accusations which are not grounded on facts.”
His comments came in response to reported remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who claimed that China had “provided support to Iran on some specific parts in manufacturing missiles.”
Guo reiterated Beijing’s official stance, emphasizing its adherence to international responsibilities and distancing China from the allegations. He said: “We have made clear China’s position on multiple occasions. As a responsible major country, China always fulfils its due international obligations.”
He also stressed China’s diplomatic approach to the ongoing conflict, adding: “We are committed in promoting de-escalation and peace talks to bring about an end to the conflict.”
Tensions in the region have remained high since military strikes carried out by Israel and the United States against Iran on Feb. 28, which prompted Iranian retaliation targeting US bases and assets across the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the United States has previously accused China of indirectly supporting Iran and has imposed sanctions on oil refineries and satellite imaging companies linked to Iranian networks, according to reports.
