Suspected Irregularities Surface In KP Teachers' Recruitment Process
During scrutiny of the seniority list, the Education Department declared the appointments of 436 female teachers suspicious and removed their names from the list, while also imposing an immediate ban on their promotions.
According to available details, the highest number of suspicious appointments emerged from Haripur, where 216 candidates were included in the list.
Abbottabad accounted for 35 candidates, Charsadda 26, Bannu 23, Dera Ismail Khan 22, while Karak and Mardan had 20 candidates each declared suspicious.
Similarly, 13 candidates each from Dir and Kohat, 11 from Chitral, and nine from the merged districts of former FATA were included in the list. Six candidates from Malakand also surfaced, while one candidate each from Battagram, Buner, and Bajaur was identified.

One of the affected candidates, identified as Shehar Bano (pseudonym), revealed that she had been waiting for her appointment letter for the past 14 years. According to her, her name still exists in the KPPSC records, but the Education Department never issued her appointment.
Sources said the issue surfaced when the Education Department began compiling a new seniority list for teachers.
During the scrutiny process, several appointment letters were found to have clear discrepancies between official records and the original merit list. In view of the sensitivity of the matter, the department later initiated a high-level inquiry.
The government has constituted a four-member high-level committee to investigate the matter and directed it to submit its report within one month.
The committee formed by the Education Department will conduct a detailed review of appointment letters, regularisation records, salary payments, and the original recommendations of the KPPSC before presenting its findings.
These recruitments were made during the final year of the Awami National Party (ANP) government. However, former education minister Sardar Hussain Babak and other relevant officials have yet to issue a detailed response on the matter.
Provincial Education Minister Arshad Ayub Khan, the KPPSC, and senior Education Department officials have also refrained from giving an official statement.
