Türkiye, Saudi Arabia Forge Deeper Ties in Ankara
(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud jointly presided over the third session of the Turkish-Saudi Coordination Council in Ankara on Wednesday, as the two nations addressed the full breadth of their bilateral relationship alongside pressing regional concerns, including the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
In a statement published on Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Fidan noted that the high-level gathering brought together representatives from relevant ministries and institutions on both sides.
Delegates conducted a comprehensive review of joint committee progress across key strategic sectors — including trade, energy, defense, education, culture, tourism, and transportation — while reinforcing bilateral ties through an established institutional framework, Fidan said.
Regional affairs featured prominently on the agenda, with Gaza taking center stage among the issues discussed. On the diplomatic front, the two nations formalized a reciprocal visa exemption agreement covering holders of diplomatic and special passports — a tangible symbol of the strengthening partnership between Ankara and Riyadh.
Fidan closed by extending his gratitude to Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and the accompanying Saudi delegation for making the trip to Ankara, voicing optimism that the accords reached during the session would yield concrete benefits for both nations going forward.
