Zelenskyy Meets European Leaders in Yerevan Ahead of Key Summit
(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy convenes with several European leaders in Yerevan on Sunday, just before the 8th European Political Community summit set to take place the following day.
During his meeting with Norway’s prime minister, Jonas Gahr Store, discussions focus on deepening strategic ties, including agreements related to drones, boosting air defense systems, and enhancing cooperation between the two countries. Zelenskyy highlights Norway’s ongoing backing, emphasizing its financial contributions to Ukraine’s prioritized needs.
“I thanked Norway for all its support for our country, in particular for its contributions to the PURL (Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List) initiative totaling nearly $1 billion,” he wrote on US social media platform X.
“Russia is not stopping its ballistic missile strikes, so the timely funding of PURL is critically important,” he added.
Zelenskyy also raises Ukraine’s upcoming winter challenges, noting the importance of securing sufficient natural gas supplies and ensuring readiness for the colder months.
“Ukraine must enter it prepared. I am grateful to Norway and personally to Jonas for the readiness to help,” he said.
Earlier developments include a defense agreement signed between Ukraine and Norway in April, alongside ongoing work on a drone-focused initiative aimed at countering Shahed-type attacks, according to reports.
In a separate meeting, Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer review continued assistance to Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and defense sector. Their talks also touch on contributions to the prioritized support program and explore the possibility of trilateral peace negotiations involving Russia, as stated by reports.
