Exit Poll Shows Progressive Bulgaria Leading Parliamentary Race
(MENAFN) Exit poll results from Sunday’s parliamentary elections in Bulgaria indicate that the Progressive Bulgaria is leading the race with 39.6% of the vote, according to data released by the research center Trend.
As stated by reports citing the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria is in second place with 15.1%, followed by the We Continue the Change–Democratic Bulgaria with 13.5%.
The Movement for Rights and Freedoms received 8.1%, while the Revival party is projected at 5.1%, narrowly above the threshold required to enter parliament. The Bulgarian Socialist Party–United Left alliance is estimated at 4.1%.
According to the Central Election Commission of Bulgaria, voter turnout stood at 34.63% as of 4 p.m. local time.
Under Bulgaria’s electoral system, parties must secure at least 121 seats in the 240-member parliament to form a governing majority.
Based on exit poll projections, Progressive Bulgaria is expected to win around 111 seats, followed by GERB with 43 seats and We Continue the Change–Democratic Bulgaria with 38 seats. The Movement for Rights and Freedoms–New Beginning is projected to take 23 seats, Revival 14 seats, and the Bulgarian Socialist Party–United Left 11 seats.
