Azerbaijani, Serbian Leaders Hold Talks on Ties, Mideast Tensions
(MENAFN) Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev held a phone call with Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic on Sunday, with the two leaders focusing on deepening bilateral ties and addressing the escalating situation in the Middle East.
Azerbaijan's presidential press service confirmed that the discussions covered plans to expand cooperation across the economy, energy, and investment sectors, with both sides exploring new joint projects deemed of strategic significance.
The two heads of state also exchanged assessments of the deteriorating Middle East situation, jointly underscoring the urgent necessity of restoring peace and stability as foundational prerequisites for broader regional security and sustainable development.
Vucic expressed gratitude to Aliyev for Baku's continued backing of Belgrade, reaffirming Serbia's dedication to reinforcing its relationship with Azerbaijan on the basis of mutual respect and converging economic interests, according to the statement.
On the sidelines of the call, Vucic also confirmed he will attend the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, scheduled to take place in Baku next month — a visit that is expected to further cement the two nations' growing strategic partnership.
