Israeli Army Reports Heavy Casualties in Ongoing Fighting Since February
(MENAFN) The Israeli military said on Sunday that 16 soldiers have been killed and 690 others wounded since February 28 in incidents it links to operations involving Iran and Lebanon.
According to the military figures, Israeli Defense Forces reported that among the 690 wounded, 96 are in serious condition, 42 are critically injured, and the remainder sustained moderate or minor injuries. It added that 149 soldiers are currently hospitalized.
As stated by reports, 37 soldiers were wounded in the past 24 hours alone, most of them due to explosive devices, though no specific locations were provided.
The data has not been independently verified, as Israeli authorities maintain strict controls on reporting the effects of attacks linked to Iran and Hezbollah.
Earlier, an Israeli newspaper reported that two soldiers were killed and 12 others injured in two separate explosive incidents in an area referred to as the “Yellow Line” in southern Lebanon.
According to reports, the “Yellow Line” is described in Israeli media as an unofficial boundary extending roughly 4 to 10 kilometers into Lebanese territory along the internationally recognized Blue Line.
The report also noted that the threat of roadside bombs in Lebanon has long been associated with previous periods of conflict, recalling Israel’s military presence in southern Lebanon during the 1980s and 1990s.
