US “Advance Delegates” Land in Islamabad for Possible Iran Negotiations

(MENAFN) At least two aircraft carrying US “advanced delegates” landed on Sunday in Islamabad ahead of a possible second round of high-level negotiations with Iran, according to multiple Pakistani sources speaking to a media outlet.

As stated by reports, the delegation arrived before being transferred to a five-star hotel, which is believed to be the same venue used for earlier discussions.

The arrival coincided with heightened security measures in the capital and in nearby Rawalpindi, where authorities imposed a lockdown amid expectations of renewed US–Iran talks.

According to reports, access roads leading to the hotel were closed, including routes connected to the earlier round of negotiations held on April 11 and 12, which is also expected to host the upcoming talks.

Islamabad police announced on social media that, due to the arrival of foreign delegations, both the Red Zone and Extended Red Zone would remain fully closed to traffic.

Authorities also suspended public and heavy transport services in and out of the capital until further notice. In addition, universities and colleges were ordered to shut until April 26, with students instructed to vacate dormitories immediately, according to official notifications.

As stated by reports, the security measures are being interpreted as a sign that a second round of US–Iran negotiations may take place under tight operational restrictions.
