Railway Projects Worth Rs 90,000 Crore Underway In Odisha: Vaishnaw
Speaking at an event in Bhubaneswar, the Minister said the scale of ongoing investments reflects the Centre's focus on strengthening both passenger and freight infrastructure, positioning the state as a key node in India's transport network.
Odisha has received a record railway budget allocation of Rs 10,928 crore, enabling faster project execution. As part of the modernisation drive, 59 stations across the state are being upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to improve passenger facilities and infrastructure standards.
On connectivity, the Minister noted that efforts are underway to bring all 30 districts of Odisha under the rail network, aiming to ensure inclusive development and better integration of remote regions.
Key projects include the proposed four-line coastal rail corridor connecting Balasore and Berhampur, which is expected to significantly enhance capacity, reduce congestion, and support faster freight and passenger movement along the coastal belt.
Vaishnaw emphasised that these initiatives will strengthen regional connectivity, support economic growth, and integrate Odisha more closely with national logistics and passenger networks.
