South Korea’s Leader Starts Two-Nation Asia Tour

(MENAFN) Lee Jae Myung has departed for a diplomatic visit to India and Vietnam, with talks expected to center on economic cooperation and stabilizing supply chains amid global energy uncertainties, according to reports.

The visit begins in New Delhi, where Lee is scheduled to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two leaders are expected to discuss strengthening cooperation in sectors such as shipbuilding, maritime industries, artificial intelligence, and defense, alongside broader efforts to address disruptions in global supply chains linked to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, as stated by reports.

The trip follows previous meetings between the two leaders at major international summits, and is expected to further deepen bilateral economic ties. Lee is also set to attend a business forum aimed at expanding opportunities for Korean companies operating in India.

After the India leg, the South Korean president will travel to Hanoi for a state visit. There, he is expected to meet senior Vietnamese leadership, including discussions on energy cooperation and access to critical minerals, key components in global industrial supply chains.

The Vietnam portion of the visit is also expected to include meetings with government officials and participation in a business forum focused on expanding economic partnership between the two countries.

According to reports, this visit marks the first trip by a foreign head of state to Vietnam since its recent leadership transition, underscoring the diplomatic significance of the engagement.
