Currently, we are studying Neisseria meningitidis, a pathogen that can causes bacterial meningitis and septicaemia. We use genomics tools to investigate genetic differences between clinical meningococcal isolates to understand virulence and how epidemics spread. In addition, we also use cell biological tools to understand how different meningococci affect host tissues.
