Aya S. Chacar, Ph.D., is a Professor of International Business in the Department of International Business at the Florida International University (FIU) College of Business. She is a globally recognized expert in Global and Institutional Business Strategy, contributing to FIU's prestigious standing as the #2 undergraduate international business program and the #5 International M.B.A. in the nation (U.S. News & World Report, 2026).

Professor Chacar is the Past Chair of the Academy of Management's International Management (IM) Division and Executive Committee member. Her extensive editorial leadership includes terms on the boards of the Journal of International Business Studies-ranked as the #1 journal in the field, Industry & Innovation, and Strategic Organization. She is also a dedicated board member for Children of Lebanon, a non-profit organization focused on educating indigent children in Lebanon.

Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor at the London Business School and held distinguished visiting appointments at INSEAD, H.E.C. Paris, The Ohio State University, the University of Utah, and Balamand University. A sought-after speaker, she has delivered numerous talks at elite institutions worldwide, including Harvard Business School, Wharton, UCLA, Seoul National University, Waseda University, and CEIBS.

Professor Chacar's research, which explores the impact of institutions on firm performance and leadership, has been published in the field's top-tier journals and received multiple accolades, including Best Paper Awards from the Academy of International Business (AIB) and the Academy of Management (AOM). Notably, her innovative research on professional baseball as a window into institutional change was featured by Malcolm Gladwell in The New Yorker. She earned her Ph.D. in Management from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
