Districts As Export Hubs Initiative Rolled Out Across All States & Uts: Jitin Prasada

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Mar 25 (KNN) The government's Districts as Export Hubs (DEH) initiative is being implemented across all states and union territories to boost local exports and strengthen district-level economic activity, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.

Under the initiative, State Export Promotion Committees (SEPCs) and District Export Promotion Committees (DEPCs) have been set up across all 36 States and Union Territories.

Draft District Export Action Plans (DEAPs) have been prepared for 590 districts, of which 249 have been formally notified by respective DEPCs.

Product Identification Across Districts

The initiative has identified district-specific products and services with export potential across states, including ceramics, tiles and potato in Sabarkantha, and minerals, agro-processing, glass and tiles in Aravalli, both in Gujarat.

In Maharashtra, Jalgaon has been recognised for banana and Bharit brinjal, while in Madhya Pradesh, all 52 districts have been covered, with examples such as onions and pharmaceuticals in Indore and oranges in Agar Malwa.

In Chhattisgarh, key products include rice, maize and mango in Raipur, along with Bastar iron craft, while Jharkhand features bamboo craft, forest produce and vegetables.

The initiative also extends to Geographical Indication (GI) products, agricultural clusters and toy clusters across districts.

Focus on Export Promotion and Capacity Building

The DEH initiative aims to support local exporters and manufacturers in scaling operations and accessing global markets. It seeks to build awareness, strengthen export readiness, and identify new markets for district-specific products and services.

Outreach programmes are being organised to address exporters' concerns and improve coordination between stakeholders.

Boost for MSMEs and Local Economies

The decentralised approach is designed to empower MSMEs, farmers, and small-scale industries by linking them to international markets. By focusing on district-level strengths, the initiative aims to enhance manufacturing, promote services exports, and drive inclusive economic growth.
