Govt Providing Interest Subsidy To Msmes For Adopting Energy Efficiency Measures: Minister

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Mar 23 (KNN) Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik in written reply to a question in Parliament said that micro & small and medium enterprises are provided an interest subvention of 5 per cent and 3 per cent respectively under the Assistance in Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries and Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme for adopting suitable energy efficient technologies.

The interest subsidy under the scheme is provided for three years.

The scheme also offers technical support, including preparation of detailed project reports based on energy audits, along with monitoring and verification assistance, he added.

Coverage Across Industrial Sectors and Clusters

The minister noted that the ADEETIE scheme currently covers MSMEs in 60 industrial clusters across 14 energy-intensive sectors. These include brass, bricks, ceramics, chemicals, fishery, food processing, forging, foundry, glass and refractory, leather, paper, pharmaceuticals, steel re-rolling and textiles.

Carbon Credit Trading Scheme Framework

He highlighted that the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme, launched in 2023, includes both compliance and offset mechanisms.

Under the compliance mechanism, 490 entities across seven sectors-aluminium, cement, chlor-alkali, pulp and paper, petro-refinery, petrochemical and textile-have been covered.

The offset mechanism, overseen by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, allows voluntary participation through approved methodologies. These include renewable energy generation, green hydrogen production, industrial energy efficiency, methane recovery, and afforestation projects.

Focus on Energy Transition

Naik emphasised that the government is undertaking these initiatives to promote energy efficiency, reduce emissions, support MSMEs in adopting cleaner technologies, and strengthen India's carbon market framework.
