Zelensky After Negotiation Team Report: Signs Prisoner Exchanges May Continue
The head of state noted that the Ukrainian delegation had already briefed him on the second day of meetings with representatives of U.S. President Donald Trump.
“In fact, there have been two days of meetings: yesterday afternoon and evening, and today as well. It is clear that the American side's focus at this time is primarily on the situation surrounding Iran and in that region, but Russia's war against Ukraine must also be brought to an end. This is viewed the same way by everyone in the world,” he remarked.
Zelensky thanked the American public for their clear support of a dignified peace for Ukraine.
He emphasized: it is important that the aggressor receives no reward, that we do not have to return to war in months or years, and that security guarantees for Ukraine and all of Europe are sufficient to ensure a lasting peace.
The President noted that all aspects of the meetings with the American side that cannot be safely discussed over the phone will be discussed in detail after the negotiating team returns to Ukraine.
“There are signs that further prisoner exchanges are possible, and that would truly be very good news and confirmation that diplomacy is working. We hope it works out,” he said.
According to Zelensky, the overall situation remains quite clear: Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not want to end the war.
