Dutch Investment in Türkiye Reaches USD34B Since 2002

(MENAFN) Dutch companies have poured approximately $34 billion into Türkiye since 2002, representing around 17% of the country’s total foreign direct investment, according to the Dutch ambassador to Ankara.

Ambassador Joep Wijnands highlighted that over 3,000 Dutch firms are registered in Türkiye, drawn by its strategic location as a “two-way gateway from Europe to the Middle East and Central Asia,” as well as its skilled workforce and expanding economy.

In 2025, the Netherlands ranked first in foreign direct investments in Türkiye, contributing $2.8 billion, according to Turkish investment authorities. Trade between the two nations reached $14 billion, with Turkish exports to the Netherlands totaling $7.2 billion, making it the ninth-largest export destination for Türkiye. Exports grew 7.4% year-on-year in January 2026, reaching $580 million.

Wijnands noted that while Dutch firms benefit from Türkiye’s investment opportunities, Turkish investors also see the Netherlands as a strategic entry point to Europe, aided by a Turkish community of over half a million in the country. He attributed the above-average growth in Dutch FDIs—12.2% compared to a 2% global trend—to Türkiye’s well-functioning market economy, which closely aligns with EU economic standards.
