The following instructions were provided to ensure public safety:

- Slow down and pull over to the side of the road.
- Keep as far away as possible from bridges, power poles and large trees.
- If you are in an open area, stay inside your vehicle.
- Turn off the engine and crouch down inside the vehicle, staying below the windows.
- You may open the windows slightly to help equalise air pressure.
- After the situation settles, wait a few minutes to ensure no more debris is falling
- Carefully check your vehicle for any damage before continuing your journey.

The Ministry further urged drivers to remain calm, noting that reacting properly at the right moment is essential to ensuring personal safety during such incidents.
