Türkiye's Stock Exchange Opens Tuesday Higher

(MENAFN) Türkiye's primary stock index clawed back early gains at Tuesday's opening bell, reversing a portion of the previous session's losses as markets steadied amid closely watched currency and commodity movements.

The BIST 100 launched the session at 12,650.59 points, adding 24.24 points — a 0.19% uptick — after shedding 0.57% on Monday to settle at 12,626.35 points. Monday's session recorded a daily trading volume of 109.6 billion liras ($2.46 billion).

By 11:00 a.m. local time (0800 GMT), the Turkish lira was changing hands at 44.4790 against the US dollar, 51.0750 against the euro, and 58.8015 against the British pound, reflecting continued pressure on the currency across major pairs.

On the commodities front, gold surged to a striking $4,564.60 per ounce, underscoring persistent safe-haven demand as global uncertainty lingers. Meanwhile, Brent crude futures held firm at $106.40 per barrel, keeping energy costs elevated for import-dependent economies.

Tuesday's modest rebound offers cautious relief to investors navigating a volatile landscape, though analysts will be watching whether the index can sustain upward momentum through the remainder of the session.
