GAM Fined 163 Establishments For Non-Compliance With Health Regulations In Amman

Amman, Mar. 4 (Petra) – The official spokesperson for Greater Amman Municipality (GAM), Dr. Nasser Rahamneh, confirmed the municipality's Health Control Department continues to conduct "intensive" inspection tours on establishments and stalls displaying and selling Ramadan beverages.
In a statement Thursday, he added that this effort is part of the GAM's commitment to ensure safety of food products offered to citizens and verifying their compliance with approved health regulations.
During the inspection campaigns, Rahamneh noted 1,233 violating entities were warned and 163 others were fined for non-compliance with health regulations.
He stated a total of 7,179 liters of beverages and food products unfit for consumption were destroyed, indicating that the municipality's staff also removed 305 non-compliant stalls from various locations within the capital Amman.
Furthermore, he said 114 samples of Ramadan beverages were collected for laboratory testing action to ensure their safety and suitability for consumption since the beginning of the holy month until Ramadan 14.
Rahamneh said the municipality will continue to intensify its monitoring efforts during the holy month of Ramadan, urging business and stalls owners to adhere to the GAM health requirements and instructions to protect public health and safety.
