Erdogan, Trump Confer on Iran and Gulf Tensions

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with US President Donald Trump in a phone call addressing recent regional developments, including the attacks targeting Iran, according to officials.

“The latest situation and current developments in Iran and the Gulf countries,” were discussed during the call, Burhanettin Duran wrote on the social media platform X on Sunday.

The conversation took place amid rising regional tensions and Ankara’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to reduce escalation and promote dialogue across the Middle East, where recent incidents involving Iran and neighboring Gulf nations have drawn international concern.

The US and Israel launched strikes on Tehran early Saturday, occurring during negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program under Oman’s mediation. The most recent round of talks in Geneva concluded on Thursday. Last June, the US also targeted three Iranian nuclear sites during a 12-day conflict with Israel.
