Erdogan Holds Talks with Gulf Leaders Amid Regional Tensions

(MENAFN) Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan conducted separate conversations with top Gulf officials following recent attacks across the Middle East, as stated by Türkiye's Communications Directorate on Sunday.

During his call with United Arab Emirates President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Erdogan offered his condolences over the attacks affecting the UAE and discussed the evolving situation in the region.

Reports note that the attacks stemmed from a joint US-Israeli strike on Iran on Saturday morning, which was described as targeting “threats” posed by the "Iranian regime." In retaliation, Iran launched missile and drone strikes against Israeli and US positions in the area.

Five Arab nations hosting US military bases—Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE—reported explosions and missile interceptions on Saturday amid ongoing Israeli and US operations against Iran.

Erdogan also held a discussion with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during which he conveyed his sympathies and received updates on the latest developments in Qatar.
