Number Of Brazilian Tourists In Morocco Rises 21%

(MENAFN- Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA)) São Paulo – The number of Brazilian tourists in Morocco rose 21% in January compared to the same period last year. According to data from the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT ), 5,161 travelers from Brazil visited the Arab country last month, up from 4,275 in the same period of 2025. Brazil ranked as the 20^th largest source of tourists to Morocco. The main source markets in January were France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Italy, and Belgium.

According to data from the tourism authority, there was also an increase in the number of Brazilian tourists and in overall foreign arrivals to Morocco throughout last year. Among Brazilians, growth reached 35%, with 54,475 travelers visiting Morocco in 2025, compared to 40,277 in 2024.

Overall, Morocco welcomed more tourists: 19.8 million in 2025, making it Africa's leading tourist destination for the second consecutive year. In 2024, 17.4 million foreign visitors traveled to Morocco.

Mohamed Amine Eljoudani, the ONMT representative in Brazil, told ANBA that the increase in tourist numbers is the result of a series of initiatives, including the opening of the ONMT office in São Paulo in September 2023 and the resumption of Royal Air Maroc flights to Brazil in December 2024.

More tourists from around the world

Royal Air Maroc operated flights to Rio de Janeiro between the 1970s and 1990s and to São Paulo between 2013 and 2020, when services were suspended due to the pandemic. In 2024, the Casablanca–São Paulo route resumed with three weekly flights, increased to four in December last year. The airline is already considering adding more flights to São Paulo and even launching services to Rio de Janeiro.

“The Morocco tourism office in Brazil has greatly facilitated communication and dialogue with key market players. We have organized several fam trips [destination familiarization trips for industry professionals], multiple training sessions with tour operators, and also taken part in trade fairs, both national and regional,” Eljoudani said.

The African country aims to welcome 26 million tourists by 2030, a figure Eljoudani said is achievable because Morocco has been investing in tourism infrastructure. In addition, Morocco will be one of the hosts of the 2030 World Cup, alongside Spain and Portugal.
