Free Study In US: 2027 Fulbright Scholarship Now Open, Know Who Can Apply


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The US Mission to the UAE has announced the opening of applications for the 2027 Fulbright Foreign Student Program, the flagship international academic exchange program sponsored by the US government.

The Fulbright Foreign Student Program supports graduate students, early career professionals, and researchers from abroad to research and study in the US for one year or longer at US universities or other educational institutions. Covered are funding for tuition and required fees, a monthly stipend for reasonable living costs, and a limited health benefits plan.

Led by the U.S. government in partnership with more than 160 countries worldwide, the US Mission said: "Fulbright offers life-changing international academic and cultural exchange opportunities to study, conduct research, and contribute to finding solutions to complex global challenges."

Fulbright participants, who represent the best and brightest, are chosen for their academic merit and leadership potential.

"Participants will be selected through an open, merit-based competition in which leadership potential, academic excellence, and ability to adjust to life in the US are considered," the US Mission noted.

Who can apply in the UAE?
  • Applicants must be a citizen or a permanent resident and able to hold a passport with Khulasat Al-Qayd (family book) from the UAE.

  • US citizens or legal permanent residents are not eligible to apply.

  • Applicants must reside in the UAE throughout the application, selection, nomination, and placement processes.

  • Applicants must hold a US-equivalent bachelor's degree from an accredited institution by the program start date.

  • Applicants must have a strong academic background.

  • Preference is given to applicants who have little or no previous experience studying or living in the US.

  • Applicants must be proficient in English or able to attend a Long-Term English (LTE) program before the start of their academic program.

Applicants may apply for most fields of study, including the humanities, social sciences, science, technology, and engineering. However, programs involving clinical studies, such as medicine and nursing, are not permitted. Non-clinical programs, such as public health and nursing administration, are permitted.
