Kremlin Says Committed to Resolving Ukraine War
(MENAFN) The Kremlin signaled Tuesday that Moscow remains open to a political resolution to the war in Ukraine, even as its military offensive continues with no end in sight.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov indicated that while diplomatic channels remain active, the burden of progress now rests with Kyiv.
"We continue efforts for peace. Our position is well known and consistent. Now everything depends on the actions of Kiev," Peskov said, adding that Russia's special military operation will continue until its goals are achieved.
Peskov further characterized the conflict as having escalated well beyond its original scope, evolving into a direct standoff between Russia and the broader Western alliance — a shift he attributed to "the direct involvement by Western European states and the United States."
In a separate and sobering development Tuesday, Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik released a stark accounting of civilian casualties on Russian soil. He stated that 433 Russian civilians had been killed and 2,958 wounded in 2025 alone, the result of Ukrainian drone strikes.
Miroshnik further alleged that over the full four-year span of the conflict, Ukrainian forces had killed 8,000 Russian civilians and left at least 27,000 others injured — figures that underscore the deepening human cost on both sides of the war.
