Iran, US Agree To Continue Talks After Muscat Meeting

(MENAFN- Khaama Press) Iran and US end Muscat talks agreeing to continue negotiations, seeking progress despite mistrust and regional tensions.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said talks between Iran and the United States in Muscat concluded with both sides agreeing to continue negotiations.

Baghaei said delegations presented their views and demands and will consult their respective capitals before deciding on the timing of the next round.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described the discussions as a good start but stressed that deep mistrust remains a major obstacle to future progress.

Araghchi said both sides exchanged views constructively and agreed to keep diplomatic channels open, though future progress depends on decisions taken in Tehran and Washington.

The United States has not yet officially commented on the Muscat meeting, which comes amid heightened regional tensions and renewed diplomatic efforts.

The negotiations occur as Washington has recently strengthened its military presence in the Middle East while urging Iran to engage diplomatically over nuclear concerns.

Previous negotiations between the two sides were disrupted after regional escalation, including military strikes involving Israel and the United States against Iranian-linked facilities, worsening tensions.
