Protests Erupt in Europe to Condemn Israel's Gaza Attacks
(MENAFN) Tens of thousands flooded European streets Saturday in coordinated pro-Palestinian demonstrations, condemning Israel's ongoing Gaza Strip assaults despite ceasefire terms and demanding immediate cessation of weapons transfers to Tel Aviv.
In the UK, massive crowds assembled at London's Russell Square before surging toward Whitehall—home to the Prime Minister's Office at 10 Downing Street and critical governmental headquarters.
The nationwide mobilization protested what organizers characterized as Israel's systematic genocide targeting Palestinian civilians.
Demonstrators denounced Israel's ceasefire breaches in Gaza while blasting the British government's continued military hardware exports to Israeli forces.
Brandishing Palestinian flags and protest signs, marchers chanted condemnations of Israel and UK leadership, pressuring British authorities, institutions, and corporations to sever all support for Israeli operations they claim constitute international law violations.
British Members of Parliament Zarah Sultana and John McDonnell participated in the march, alongside British-Palestinian physician Ghassan Abu Sitta, who has provided medical care in Gaza.
A minor contingent of pro-Israel counter-demonstrators positioned themselves along the procession route, displaying Israeli and British banners while attempting to antagonize the pro-Palestinian crowd.
Simultaneously in Sweden, hundreds converged on the capital Stockholm to challenge Israel's Gaza bombardments and humanitarian aid blockades.
The demonstration, coordinated by multiple civil society organizations, occupied Odenplan Square.
Activists accused Israel of violating the ceasefire implemented Oct. 10, 2025, through persistent airstrikes on Gaza and restricting humanitarian supply deliveries.
Protest banners declared: "Children are being killed in Gaza," "Schools and hospitals are being bombed," "Stop the attacks on Gaza," "End food restrictions," and "Israel must comply with the peace agreement."
Demonstrators demanded immediate termination of Israel's military operations and pressed the Swedish government to freeze arms transactions with Israel.
In comments to media, Swedish activist Lasse Adestedt said opposing injustice anywhere in the world is a moral responsibility.
The Gaza media office reported Saturday that since the ceasefire's early October activation, Israeli actions have killed 524 Palestinians and wounded 1,360 others, committing 1,450 violations.
