Dustin Chick Exits Razor PR

(MENAFN- PRovoke) JOHANNESBURG - Razor PR CEO Dustin Chick is leaving the agency, six years after launching the firm as a standalone PR offering within M&C Saatchi Group South Africa.

"Today is my last in my office' day at Razor PR. This is a place that has been a home for 6 years now. What follows for me is a month to recalibrate and ready myself for what comes next (more in that soon)," Chick wrote on LinkedIn.

Chick joined M&C Saatchi Group South Africa in early 2020 f rom Ogilvy South Africa, where he was head of strategy, influence and public relations, to build Razor from the ground up. At the time, M&C Saatchi opted to create rather than acquire a PR capability, positioning Razor as a differentiated agency focused on influence, reputation and measurable impact.

In his post, Chick reflected on the uncertainty of launching a new agency with“no people, no clients and... no money,” describing the gap between agreeing to start an agency and actually doing it as“two very different undertakings.” He said Razor was founded with a clear ambition“to do PR differently, and to do it better,” with a focus on accountability, strategic and creative excellence, and kindness as a core value.

“What has come together is a group of deeply special and talented people who have created something remarkable,” Chick wrote, describing the agency's evolution from an unnamed startup into one of South Africa's most recognised agencies.

Chick also pointed to the resilience of the business, noting that the agency navigated a global pandemic, recession and sustained geopolitical volatility while maintaining its culture and ambition.“If we can do these things and still be good people doing good work,” he wrote,“then I know in my deepest of hearts that nothing will stand in our way.”
