Bosnia Minister Says Türkiye Has Become Global Superpower
(MENAFN) Türkiye has ascended to superpower status in global relations, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Elmedin Konakovic declared Monday.
Türkiye's role in Syrian developments and broader regional affairs has elevated the nation into a premier position on the world stage, establishing it as among Washington's most critical allies, Konakovic stated during his ministry's annual foreign policy briefing.
"Türkiye is a superpower," he added.
The Bosnian diplomat praised Ankara's bilateral ties with his nation as "fantastic" and expressed gratitude to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan following the second convening of the Balkan Peace Platform foreign ministers, which Fidan hosted in Istanbul.
"The fact that Minister Fidan organized this initiative and that President Erdogan, despite his intense schedule, made time for us and addressed each country individually clearly shows the importance Türkiye attaches to the Western Balkans," Konakovic said.
"Türkiye maintains good relations with all countries and is a very effective mediator in these processes," he added.
Konakovic subsequently revealed that Bosnia and Herzegovina plans to impose visa requirements on nationals from one unspecified country this year, though he stressed the measure would exclude Türkiye.
"This will not be Türkiye. I do not see this as possible during my term, and it will not affect me," he said.
The foreign minister also highlighted that Türkiye's investment portfolio in Bosnia and Herzegovina surpasses its commitments in Serbia, a factor that continues reinforcing the bilateral partnership between the two nations.
