Three Art Exhibitions Open At Katara Cultural Village

Doha, Qatar: Katara Art Centre, at the Katara Cultural Village, is hosting three valuable art exhibitions with different themes, from different art schools.

The organisation of these exhibitions, which were opened on Tuesday, coinciding with the State of Qatar hosting the Art Basel Qatar, which will start on February 5.

The three art exhibitions celebrate creative voices rooted in Qatar and the region, bringing together the unique artistic practices of Qatari artist Asma Sami in collaboration with Al Markhiya Gallery, Qatari artist Khalid Boumatar in collaboration with Dar Hessa Art Gallery, and Iranian artist Haifa Alizadeh in collaboration with Sana Art Gallery, highlighting diverse approaches to contemporary art, ranging from conceptual explorations and human narratives to visual expression and cross-cultural dialogue.

Founder of Dar Hessa Art Gallery artist Hanadi Al Darwish told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the exhibition of artist Khaled Boumatar entitled comes as part of the gallery's commitment to supporting local artists and embracing distinguished creative experiences.

At the same time, she emphasised her pride in Dar Hessa Art Gallery being the entity that has contributed to presenting the artist's experience to the public since its inception, in a collaboration that reflects the belief in the gallery's role in supporting the contemporary art movement and providing platforms that enable artists to develop their projects and express their visions, thus contributing to enriching the cultural and artistic scene.

In turn, artist Khalid Boumatar told QNA that his exhibition features 25 artworks through which he sought to highlight Qatari heritage. He indicated that the work transcends the traditional concept of portraiture, giving faces an inner voice that reveals much about the person depicted, and perhaps even the viewer.

As for the exhibition of the Qatari artist Asma Sami, it presents a new collection of her works through which she consolidates her presence as a unique and connected artistic voice in the contemporary art scene in Qatar.

The three exhibitions, which continue to attract visitors until Feb. 28 2026.
