UK inflation rises in December 2025


(MENAFN) The UK’s Consumer Prices Index (CPI) climbs to 3.4% in December 2025, up from 3.2% in November, slightly surpassing market forecasts of 3.3%, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) reports on Wednesday.

Among the largest annual price increases, education leads at 7.6%, followed by alcohol and tobacco at 5.2%, and housing at 4.9%. Food inflation also accelerates, rising to 4.5% in December from 4.2% in November.

On a monthly basis, the CPI increases 0.4% in December, compared with a 0.3% rise the previous month. Key contributors to the monthly growth include transport (1.3%), furniture and household goods (1.2%), and food (0.8%).
