Sheikh Mohammed Announces UAE Tops Global Government Trust Index

The Vice President of UAE has announced that UAE has secured the top spot in the global Government Trust index, highlighting the people's faith in the UAE Government.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who also serves as the Ruler of Dubai, said that trust is built over many years and noted that it hinges on countries fulfilling promises, having integrity of laws and respect for the people.

The Government Trust Index that Sheikh Mohammed was referring to comes from the 2026 Edelman Trust Barometer report issued by the New York-based institution of the same name.

The UAE has risen three spots to number one this year. India follows closely at number 2 on the 2026 list.

Where else does UAE score high?

Other interesting statistics from the report include trust that the next generation will be better off than the current one. The percentage of those in the UAE who agree has increased, signalling not only a growing trust in the nation but also in hope for the future.

The Emirates has also scored high in the category of people who trust their employers to "do what is right", and tops the list of countries who trust businesses to take good decisions.

The percentage of people in the UAE who trust the media in the country is also high - within the first five countries on the list, and showing an increase of 15 points.

Globally, education and technology top the list of industry sectors people trust the most, and social media has gained points in this category as well.
