Michele Patterson Ford, Ph.D. is a practicing Licensed Psychologist and Lecturer at Dickinson College with over 20 years of experience working in academic and clinical settings addressing and treating mental health and mental illness. Dr. Ford received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Texas Tech University. She completed her internship at the Vanderbilt University/Veterans Affairs Consortium Internship Program in Professional Psychology and her postdoctoral residency at the Vanderbilt University Psychological and Counseling Center. Clinically, Dr. Ford has worked in a variety of settings to include college counseling centers, hospital settings, and private practice. Clinical areas of specialty include depression, anxiety, eating disorders and sexual and reproductive trauma. Dr. Ford has also published research in the areas of psychological ethics and family functioning. Currently, Dr. Ford maintains an active clinical practice and teaches undergraduate courses in Psychopathology, Disordered Eating, Counseling Theories and Research Methods. Her rich and varied clinical background brings life and practicality to her classroom discussions of mental health and mental illness, and she encourages students to see people with mental illness as more than their diagnosis.
