Czech FM Sees Good Prospects For Cooperation With Ukraine In Field Of Countering Drones

"Ukraine has created significant technological innovations in the defense industry as a result of and under the pressure of this war. I think this is exactly what could inspire us, in which the Ukrainian side could contribute to strengthening security in the Czech Republic. So, our relationship can be mutually beneficial," Macinka said.

The minister stated that during his visit to Kyiv, he visited a specialized production facility focused on anti-drone systems and was impressed by Ukraine's achievements in this area.

“We are at a completely different level, much worse, and this is where we should learn from Ukraine, and where we could be inspired, where Ukraine can help us very substantially,” the minister stressed.

He said that his view of Ukraine had not changed after the visit.

“My position has been consistent all along. I was not surprised that the situation is what it is, because I knew it. I did not need to adjust my personal position in any way,” he stressed.

Macinka also stated that he was approximately three-quarters of an hour's drive from Lviv when the Russian Oreshnik hit the area, but admitted that the delegation was unaware at the time that the missile was en route. However, they knew that dozens of drones were flying towards Kyiv, so there was a risk of having to stop somewhere in a field, the minister noted, but assured that there were no thoughts of turning back and canceling the trip to the Ukrainian capital.
