Trump Declares End of Cuban Access to Venezuelan Oil

(MENAFN) U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that Cuba will no longer obtain petroleum or monetary assistance from Venezuela. He asserted that the United States now guarantees Venezuela’s protection, following a military campaign that resulted in the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.

In a statement shared on his social media network, Truth Social, Trump explained that for years the Caribbean island had depended on significant supplies of crude and funds from Venezuela in exchange for offering security services to Venezuelan authorities. He emphasized that this arrangement has now concluded.

“There will be no more oil or money going to Cuba — zero!” he wrote.

Trump alleged that numerous Cuban personnel engaged in protective operations within Venezuela were killed during the recent U.S. intervention. He added that Venezuela no longer requires defense from what he labeled criminal factions that had “held them hostage for many years.”

He further declared that Venezuela is now safeguarded by the United States, highlighting that the nation possesses “the most powerful military in the world,” and assured that Washington will guarantee Venezuela’s safety from this point forward.

Trump encouraged Cuba to pursue a new agreement, cautioning that it must act “before it is too late.”

On January 7, shortly after the Venezuelan operation, Trump identified Cuba as a potential upcoming target of his administration, asserting that the island nation “is ready to fall.”
