Qatar Responds To Damage To Its Embassy In Ukraine During Russian Attack


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was reported on the website of Qatar's Foreign Ministry, according to Ukrinform.

“The State of Qatar expresses its deep regret over the damage sustained by its embassy building in Ukraine as a result of the shelling of the capital, Kyiv, last night,” the statement reads.

The Qatari Foreign Ministry confirmed that none of its diplomats or embassy staff were injured.

The ministry emphasized the need to protect embassies, diplomatic missions, headquarters of international organizations, and civilian facilities from the consequences of crises, and of ensuring the safety of their personnel in accordance with international law.

“The Ministry reiterates the State of Qatar's firm position calling for a resolution to the Russian-Ukrainian crisis (Russia's war against Ukraine – ed.) through dialogue and peaceful means, in accordance with the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, and reaffirms its full support for all international efforts aimed at de-escalation,” the statement added.

Notably, the Qatari Foreign Ministry's statement does not explicitly mention Russia as the party responsible for the attack on Kyiv.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the Russian Ministry of Defense stated that on the night of January 9, a strike was carried out across Ukraine, including with a medium-range ballistic missile, the Oreshnik. The Russian ministry claimed it was a response to an alleged attack on President Putin's residence in Valdai on the night of December 29, 2025.
