Türkiye Achieves Record Defense, Aviation Export Growth

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s defense and aviation exports reached $10.05 billion in 2025, marking a 48% increase compared to the previous year, according to the head of the country’s Defense Industries Secretariat.

During a ceremony in Istanbul presenting foreign trade statistics, Haluk Gorgun told a news agency that 2026 was shaping up to be another year of unprecedented achievements for Türkiye, both in overall trade and specifically within the defense sector.

He explained that the nation consistently surpassed previous benchmarks throughout 2025, with a milestone in December when defense and aviation exports exceeded $2.5 billion.

Breaking down the figures, exports of goods in the defense and aviation field amounted to $9.87 billion, while services contributed $184 million.

Gorgun highlighted that new defense agreements expanded by nearly 80% in 2025, recalling that the industry’s exports had stood at $7.1 billion in 2024.

"In terms of creating outstanding orders from the contracts signed, we completed 2024 with $10 billion in new contracts, and 2025 with $17.8 billion, which is a 78% growth," he said.

He further emphasized that the surge in defense exports is best understood by examining their share in Türkiye’s overall trade. "In 2022, we exported $4.4 billion, and the share of defense and aviation exports in Türkiye's overall exports was 1.7%.

"Today, the share of defense and aviation exports in Türkiye's overall exports has reached 3.7%."
Gorgun concluded by noting that this success was driven by companies delivering reliable, cost-efficient, and high-quality products, alongside strong after-sales service and guarantees.
