UAE: Barbecue Banned In Some Areas Of Al Ain's Jebel Hafeet Up To Dh4,000 Fine
Authorities have banned barbecue in the parking lots of Jebel Hafeet, Al Ain.
“Barbecue/BBQ is strictly prohibited in this area. Violation may result in a penalty,” said a notice placed at different parking lots of Jebel Hafeet by the Department of Municipalities and Transport and Al Ain City Municipality.
Recommended For YouJebel Hafeet is one of the most popular places among residents and visitors, as hundreds of thousands of people visit the place every year. The area has been constantly developed with a variety of F&B outlets and other family-focused activities for the visitors.
In addition, warning signboards have also been placed at non-designated places in the Green Mubazzarah Park area in order to maintain the beauty of the area for the visitors.
As per Law No. (2) of 2012 concerning the Preservation of Public Appearance, Health and Tranquillity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, there is a fine of Dh1,000 for failure to comply with guiding, warning or instructional panels, instructions boards or prohibition boards related to accessing and using public areas. The fine is doubled to Dh2,000 for committing the offence a second time and Dh4,000 for the third time.
“We visited the Jebel Hafeet last month during the UAE National Day holidays with family friends and had a barbecue as there were no signboards. We decided to again over the weekend before school resumes, and we found signboards on different parking lots as well,” said Ahmed Malik, a Dubai resident.
“Jebel Hafeet is one of our favourite places in the UAE to relax with family and friends because we can spend quality time on Green Mubzzarah for children, and then we drive up to the top of the mountain for barbecue and enjoy pleasant weather,” said Samina Khan, a Sharjah resident.
In December 2025, Al Ain was chosen as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2026, reflecting the growing status of Emirati tourist destinations at Arab and regional levels.
Al Ain was chosen based on the recommendation of the Executive Office of the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism.
