Zelenskyy Says to Hold Talks with Trump in Late January

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed Saturday that high-level talks with US President Donald Trump are scheduled for late January, signaling a critical breakthrough in efforts to end the conflict.

Speaking at a press briefing after consultations with security advisers from allied countries, Zelenskyy outlined the diplomatic roadmap ahead. "After that, there will be a meeting of leaders, security documents will be finalized. The leaders will discuss many different issues, but the focus will be on security guarantees and recovery," he stated.

Military officials and general staff representatives from multiple nations will head to Europe next week for preliminary discussions with Trump's envoys in Paris, sessions anticipated to span "a day or two," according to Zelenskyy.

"We'll see how things go. After that, I think we will prepare for a meeting in the United States at the level of leaders in a wide circle. We would like all of this to happen during January, by the end of January," Zelenskyy added.

The development comes after a December 28 Florida encounter between the two presidents, where Trump highlighted advances on Donbas-related matters and unveiled plans for a specialized task force dedicated to peace negotiations, incorporating top American officials and Russian representatives.

Zelenskyy has indicated the peace framework is nearing completion with American security assurances fully resolved, while Trump recently voiced frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin yet maintained optimism about achieving a resolution to the war.
