Trump Speaks Out on Health Speculations Swirling Online
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has disclosed taking aspirin at more than triple the standard dosage, attributing the medication to persistent hand bruising that has fueled months of media speculation.
The revelation surfaced during an interview with media published Thursday, where the president defended his cardiovascular regimen.
"They say aspirin is good for thinning out the blood, and I don't want thick blood pouring through my heart," Trump said. "I want nice, thin blood pouring through my heart. Does that make sense?"
Trump consumes 325 milligrams of aspirin daily for "cardiac prevention," according to his personal physician, Sean Barbabella, media reported. Standard low-dose aspirin typically measures 81mg, the publication noted, citing the Mayo Clinic.
The president rejected medical advice to reduce his intake, revealing he has maintained this regimen for 25 years and admitting he is "a little superstitious" about altering it.
A White House-commissioned Mayo Clinic assessment calculated the president's cardiac age at approximately 65 years old, media stated.
When questioned about additional health practices, Trump acknowledged abandoning prescribed compression socks designed to address leg swelling because he "didn't like them."
The president also dismissed exercise beyond golf. "I just don't like it," he stated, characterizing treadmill workouts as "boring."
In a Truth Social declaration Friday, Trump announced that White House physicians have deemed him in "perfect health." He claimed to have "aced" a cognitive exam and advocated mandatory testing for all US presidents and vice presidents.
Throughout his 2024 reelection campaign, the 79-year-old repeatedly demanded his predecessor Joe Biden undergo cognitive evaluation, citing the then-president's alleged mental decline during his final term. The Democrat, who became the oldest person to occupy the US presidency, departed office at 82 amid intensifying questions about potential cognitive deterioration following a catastrophic debate performance against Trump.
