Turkey’s exports reach record high in 2025—Erdogan
(MENAFN) Türkiye’s total exports of goods and services reached a historic high of $396 billion in 2025, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Saturday.
The country has grown into Europe’s fourth-largest manufacturing hub and the world’s 12th, producing 1.5 million vehicles annually and generating over $41 billion in automotive exports, Erdogan said at an event in Istanbul.
Highlighting defense and aviation as key achievements, Erdogan noted that Türkiye has earned global recognition in these sectors. He pointed to the recent deal with Spain for the procurement of Türkiye’s domestically produced Hurjet aircraft as evidence of the nation’s growing international influence, emphasizing that inclusion of the aircraft in a European and NATO member’s inventory will open further opportunities in the coming years.
Türkiye’s defense exports have surged fortyfold since 2002, rising from $248 million to $9.87 billion in 2025, he added.
Erdogan also said Türkiye has become the EU’s fifth-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching $232.7 billion and exports to the bloc climbing to $117 billion. He stressed that modernizing the Customs Union is now unavoidable and expressed hope that the EU would soon grant authorization to begin negotiations.
Warning against protectionist measures, Erdogan emphasized that Türkiye expects the EU to respect the partnership and that all necessary steps will be taken to safeguard the competitiveness of its industries.
In terms of other markets, Türkiye exported $73.7 billion to members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, $11 billion to Turkic states, $5.6 billion to non-EU Balkan countries, and about $19.2 billion to North America, including the US, Canada, and Mexico.
“No stopping, we move forward,” Erdogan concluded.
