Russian Military Launches Strikes on Ukrainian Infrastructure Sites
(MENAFN) The Russian Defense Ministry announced that its forces carried out one large-scale operation along with six coordinated strikes targeting drone manufacturing centers, energy systems, and other military-related facilities within Ukraine over the past week.
Officials explained that the bombardments were a response to “Ukraine’s terrorist attacks on civilian targets in Russia.” The ministry’s statement on Friday noted that advanced weaponry, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, had been deployed during these operations.
According to the release, the strikes focused on Ukrainian long-range drone production sites and the locations from which they were being launched.
Additional targets included enterprises tied to the nation’s defense industry and the energy networks that sustain them.
The ministry added that transportation hubs, port facilities, arms and fuel storage areas, as well as temporary bases used by Ukrainian troops and foreign fighters, were also struck.
It further recalled that on December 28–29, Kiev attempted to send 91 long-range UAVs toward President Vladimir Putin’s residence in Novgorod Region. Russian air defenses intercepted and destroyed all of the drones before they reached their destination.
