Commenting on the achievement, Dr. Khalid bin Jabr Al Thani expressed his pride in the recognition, emphasising that it represents a collective national accomplishment rather than an individual one. He stated that this international acknowledgment reflects the confidence of the global medical community in Qatar's integrated healthcare approach, which prioritises prevention, early detection, and advanced treatment while placing patients at the centre of care. He added that the recognition serves as a greater responsibility to further develop programs and services, expand partnerships, and ensure comprehensive and sustainable support for cancer patients, survivors, and their families.
Founded in 1997, Qatar Cancer Society operates as a charitable organization under the supervision of the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities and represents a key pillar in Qatar's national cancer control ecosystem. The Society works to build a cancer-aware community and improve the quality of life of those affected by the disease through awareness programs, financial assistance, psychosocial support, and initiatives that support professional development and scientific research in oncology.
During 2025, the Society delivered tangible impact across multiple areas. It supported the treatment of more than 1,750 adult and pediatric patients receiving care at the National Center for Cancer Care and Research and Sidra Medicine, at a total cost exceeding QR49m.
In the field of psychosocial support, 1,200 individuals benefited directly from community-based programs, while more than 40,000 indirect beneficiaries were reached through digital platforms. In addition, 50 cancer survivors received specialized one-on-one psychological support.
Community awareness remained a core focus, with campaigns reaching over 6.6 million indirect beneficiaries through digital channels, alongside nearly 19,000 participants in workshops, educational programs, and field activities across Qatar.
As part of ongoing efforts to enhance professional development and support scientific research in the field of cancer, the total number of beneficiaries reached 16,248, reflecting a pivotal role in strengthening competencies, advancing research and development, and contributing to sustainable professional development goals.
