Israeli army conducts new raids in Quneitra countryside in Syria
(MENAFN) Israeli troops carried out another incursion in the Quneitra countryside of southern Syria on Saturday, further violating the country’s sovereignty, local media reported.
A unit of five military vehicles entered the village of Ain al-Qadi via the Abu Rajm crossing and conducted a search of a house, according to local reports. No arrests were made during the operation.
The raid followed a prior incursion in the southern Quneitra village of Bariqa, where eight Israeli military vehicles—comprising four Hilux trucks and four Hummer armored vehicles—advanced into the area.
Israeli forces have repeatedly entered Syrian territory despite the Syrian government posing no immediate threat, carrying out airstrikes that have killed civilians and targeted military sites, vehicles, weapons, and ammunition.
Following the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel reportedly expanded its control over the Syrian Golan Heights, seizing parts of the demilitarized buffer zone in violation of a 1974 agreement with Syria.
