Eastern Military Zone Thwarts Smuggling Attempts Via Primitive Balloons

Amman, Jan. 4 (Petra) – The Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, thwarted four separate attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across the border early Sunday morning.
The smuggling attempts utilized balloons equipped with primitive guidance devices. Border Guard forces detected the balloons at various locations along the eastern front and intercepted them before they could reach their intended destinations.
The military units successfully brought down the balloons and seized their cargo within Jordanian territory. The confiscated materials have been handed over to the competent authorities for further legal action.
