China to Reduce Import Tariff Rates on 935 Product Categories
(MENAFN) Beijing will implement reduced provisional import tariff rates below most-favored-nation levels on 935 product categories beginning Jan. 1, 2026, a state-run news agency reported, citing the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council, which announced it on Monday.
The commission said Beijing will apply reduced tariff rates to 935 items in an effort to "enhance synergy between domestic and international markets."
Economic planners confirmed duty reductions will target "on certain key components and advanced materials" that support "high-level technological self-reliance" as well as facilitate green development and medical products.
Chinese authorities will restructure tariff classifications and national subheading designations throughout 2026, introducing new categories for emerging technologies including intelligent bionic robots and bio-aviation kerosene.
The nation will honor previously negotiated preferential tariff arrangements covering specific imported merchandise from its 34 trading partners in 2026, as per trade agreements signed with them.
In 2026, Beijing will also maintain zero-tariff treatment on all tariff lines for the 43 least developed countries that have established diplomatic relations with China.
