Russian guided bomb hits Kharkiv, killing two

(MENAFN) A Russian-guided aerial bomb struck a major roadway in central Kharkiv on Friday, killing two civilians and wounding eight others, according to statements by local authorities.

Officials said the explosion occurred along a key thoroughfare in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

Describing the casualties, the regional administration head stated: "One man died on the spot, another died in the ambulance."

The blast hit one of the city’s busiest highways, setting several civilian vehicles ablaze and causing extensive damage to surrounding residential areas. Windows were blown out in nearby apartment blocks and private houses as a result of the impact.

Local authorities stressed that the location was purely civilian, underscoring that no military sites were present in the vicinity. Emergency responders and law enforcement teams have since been deployed to inspect the damaged buildings and assess the aftermath.

There has been no immediate response from Russia regarding the incident, and independent confirmation of the details remains challenging.
