US, Russian Envoys Describe Miami Talks as Constructive
(MENAFN) US special envoy Steve Witkoff characterized the recent negotiations in Miami with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s representative, Kirill Dmitriev, as “productive and constructive,” highlighting ongoing progress in US-led initiatives to secure a resolution to the Ukraine conflict.
In a statement posted on X on Sunday, Witkoff explained that Dmitriev had engaged in meetings over two days in Florida with an American team that included Witkoff himself, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and White House official Josh Gruenbaum. The talks, he noted, were focused on advancing Trump’s proposed peace framework for Ukraine.
“Russia remains fully committed to achieving peace in Ukraine,” Witkoff wrote, emphasizing that Moscow “highly values the efforts and support of the United States” in working toward conflict resolution and global stability.
While neither Washington nor Moscow revealed concrete outcomes from the discussions, both sides described the exchanges as constructive, suggesting that additional rounds of dialogue may follow.
“Thank you, Miami. Next time: Moscow,” Dmitriev remarked after the negotiations concluded.
