Netanyahu to present Trump with military options to deal with Iran
(MENAFN) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to provide President Donald Trump with a set of military strategies targeting Iran during their scheduled meeting on December 29 in Florida, as stated by reports from Israeli public broadcaster.
According to sources cited by the broadcaster, Netanyahu will deliver updated intelligence on Iran’s ballistic missile program, which has increasingly become a focus for Israel over its nuclear program amid concerns about Tehran rebuilding its missile and air defense capabilities.
Sources added that “Tel Aviv claims Iran is accelerating the rehabilitation of production facilities damaged in previous attacks, while simultaneously working to restore its air defense systems.”
The potential options reportedly under discussion range from an Israeli unilateral strike to limited US-backed action, joint operations, or even a direct US strike on targets inside Iran. Estimates from Tel Aviv suggest that “Iran’s renewed production of ballistic missiles could increase to 3,000 per month if left unchecked.”
The meeting is also expected to cover Iran’s nuclear program, including the restoration of enrichment facilities, as well as Tehran-aligned regional groups’ funding and armament.
Former US officials reportedly warned that any setbacks in maintaining the Gaza ceasefire could influence Trump’s willingness to fully back new military action against Iran.
The meeting comes in the aftermath of the surprise Israeli attack on Tehran in June, which targeted military, nuclear, and civilian sites, along with senior commanders and nuclear scientists. Iran responded with missile and drone strikes, while the US bombed several Iranian nuclear sites. The 12-day confrontation ended under a US-brokered ceasefire that took effect on June 24.
