Dubai Customs First Line Of Defence For Economy, Says Sheikh Hamdan

Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said that the next phase of Dubai Customs requires a smarter, and more agile system.

Such a system would use advanced tech and streamline processes to strengthen supply chains, ensure smooth trade, and boost investor confidence, he added.

Sheikh Hamdan's comments come after his visit to the Dubai Customs headquarters on Monday. He directed the authority to keep working towards setting global benchmarks.

Dubai Customs is the first line of defence for the economy, and continued investment in its capabilities is crucial for speed, accuracy, and innovation, he added.

Sheikh Hamdan, who also serves as UAE's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, commended the advanced customs systems and innovative solutions. He said that the authority efficiently handles millions of transactions annually, facilitating trade worth hundreds of billions of dirhams. Its skilled national workforce demonstrates the authority's steady progress towards global leadership, Sheikh Hamdan added.

Dubai Customs had several digital projects in 2025, including the 'Al-Munasiq 2.0' platform, which cuts the time required for goods classification from one day to two seconds. The platform has 86 per cent adoption, and is used in 117 countries.
